DELEGATES TO PRESBYTERY
The Presbytery of East Tennessee will meet October 3, 2009, at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Madisonville, TN. Session Clerks please send the name of your delegate to the Stated Clerk no later than August 1, 2009.

VOLUNTEER MINISTRY CENTER
On Wednesday, April 15, 2009, the Presbytery of East TN presented a plaque to the Volunteer Ministry Center which read: "First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Knoxville was on this site 1885-1975". A $1200.00 gift from the Presbytery was also given to the Volunteer Ministry Center to carry on their outstanding work with the homeless of Knoxville. Ginny Weatherstone, Director of VMC, received the plaque and the donation and gave all of us a tour of the facility. Members of the Presbytery attending were:

NOTES OF INTEREST
- Patrick Kelly became Pastor of Philadelphia Church on June 1, 2009.

POSITION OPENING
Ministry Council Communications Team Leader Position. The Communications Ministry Team Leader will manage and coordinate all communications activities for the Ministry Council. The Team Leader will maintain an office located in the C. P. Church denominational headquarters in Cordova, TN. This position reports to the Director of Ministries. REPORT FROM GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Sam Suddarth, Elder from Jenkins Church, Columbia Presbytery, was elected Moderator.
Announced that constitutional amendment (on Lay Ministers) failed to be approved by Presbyteries; vote: 14 yes and 9 no. (Must be approved by 3/4 of Presbyteries)
2010 General Assembly to be in Dickson, TN June 13-18 Placed on GA Boards/Agencies from our Presbytery:
- General Assembly Board of Directors - Melissa Malinoski
- Communications Ministry Team - James D. McGuire
- Our United Outreach Committee - Lynne Lively
Celebrated new Denomination Center with Bar-B-Q and open house Noted $300,000.00 yet owed on Center. Challenged 300 people/churches to give $1000.00 by Labor Day to eliminate this indebtedness.
