SUMMARY OF ACTIONS OF PRESBYTERY

The Presbytery of East Tennessee met April 4, 2009, at the Fairview Church, Afton, TN. The worship service was led by Rev. Ronnie Duncan with Licentiate Chris Franklin delivering the message.

Elder Cleo Norman, Marietta Church, was elected Moderator. Approved Corntassel Church to build a new fellowship hall. Approved a special offering by the Churches of the Presbytery be received on the 5th Sunday in May to assist the Corntassel Church. Approved the report of: Board of C. E.; Personnel Committee; Heritage Committee; Camp Chilhowee; Treasurers Report. Approved Board of Missions report which included organizing Mercy Fellowship as a Church.

Approved Committee on Ministry report receiving Bobby Spurling as a Candidate, and approving Rev. Ronnie Duncan as Pastor of Fairview Church. Named an Ad Hoc committee to study how Presbytery can best help congregations meet the denomination insurance program requirements. Approved dissolving the pastoral relationship for Rev. David Craig and the Young's Chapel Church. Approved Byrd Broyles for the P.A.S. program.

Approved report of the Committee on Theology and Social Concerns. The Seminar Where Do You Go For Help When You Need It? and Keeping Your Faith Strong In Hard Times Sunday, April 26, 3-4:00 p.m. at the Beaver Creek Church, 7225 Old Knoxville Pike, Knoxville.

Approved Coordinating Committee report recommending a 5 member commission on Discipline be named and appointing Rev. Gary Hartman to be the webmaster for the Presbytery's website. Approved the Constitutional Amendments. Approved report of Camp John Speer. Approved changing Standing Rules concerning approval of pastoral relationships, switching from the Committee on Ministry to the Board of Missions. Stated Clerk is to provide a draft for the next meeting of Presbytery. Approved report of Committee on Judicial Concerns. Approved request from Faith Fellowship to secure a loan to start building the first phase of their church campus. Adjourned to meet October 3, 2009, with the New Hope Church.

DAY OF FASTING AND PRAYER

Every Church is requested to promote a day of prayer and fasting on the first Monday of each month (or a day of your choosing) to review what the Lord would have us do in focusing on evangelism. The day of prayer and fasting may be by individuals, families, and congregational prayer meetings as well as in jointly sponsored prayer meetings with nearby C. P. Churches.

SYNOD

Synod will meet May 7, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. (ET) at the Red Bank Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 115 Morrison Springs Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37415. The delegates are Rev. Gary Hartman, Rev. Melissa Malinoski, Rev. T. J. Malinoski, Rev. Tammy Greene and Elders, Art DeLong, Lee Dollison, Carolyn McCarter and Robyn Murray.
